It’s largely given to treat the rashes and other skin conditions associated with lupus. But it does seem to hold some promise. For those who might not recall – Thalidomide was the nasty drug used in the 50s/60s to help pregnant women deal with "morning sickness." It turned out to cause horrific birth defects (I believe at 100%.) So obviously there are some stringent rules on prescribing and taking this drug. But otherwise, it seems to be something worth investigating and may actually be less toxic for some of us vs. the chemo drugs. The Pennsylvania chapter just published a small blurb about it in their newsletter. I’d recommend checking out www.lupus.org and searching for possible articles on-line that will give you more info and perhaps put you in contact with other patients using this medication. Best of luck with it – keep us updated on how it goes. takecare, kcat

Sheila, I have taken Thalidomide for my skin rash, I started to get neuropathy (spelling) which caused me to lose feeling in my fingers and toes. I was told to stop taking it due to these effects. I did however start to notice an improvement in the rash prior to stopping it. I hope this helps and hope even more it works for you. — Brad On Sat, 25 Oct 2003 21:45:51 -0400, "shelia" – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -<sandhalli…@comcast.net> wrote: >I just started taking this and wondering if anyone had good news withit. Hi Shelia! I’ve heard of it, but don’t remember what it’s for. This probably means someone here has taken it & is at the beach for the weekend & will post when they see your question. : ) It’s good to see your post! What’s the med for? Do you have Lupus? I don’t think you ever told us too much about your illness(es), so I’m curious about you. : ) Hugs4u, Maggie
