sunscreen

Question:

Not I

Response:

Does anyone have trouble wearing sunscreen?  I’ve tried various kinds. They all make me feel ill–I get nauseus (sp?) and sick feeling. Tina

Response:

Tina, As crazy as this may sound I burn much worse when I wear sunscreen not to mention that simple application irritates my skin.  I am dark complexioned and rarely if ever burned before lupus but boy howdy do I need to be careful now.  Also some of my meds make me more sensitive to the sun.  Judith Jim & Tina Carmichael wrote in message <36F2A0D4.1D8FE…@funtv.com>… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->Does anyone have trouble wearing sunscreen?  I’ve tried various kinds. >They all make me feel ill–I get nauseus (sp?) and sick feeling. I have very sensitive skin, but have found Sol Bar to work for me.  I use the SFP 30 because it is a gel.  I can also use Shade gel.  The drugest has to order both of these as they are not usually sold over the counter.  My dermatologist recommended these.  Mary

There’s a new kind worth lookiing for and trying – a sunblock which contains titanium dioxide instead of the usual chemicals.  Yes, thats the stuff in brilliant white paint. We tried it once in Austria and it was amazingly effective – 2 hours after we put it on, a terrible thunderstorm arrived and washed away the car park and four cars! — Andy For Austria & its philately, Lupus, & much else visit http://www.kitzbuhel.demon.co.uk

Actually this doesn’t sound crazy to me.  You are probably having an allergic response that is accelerated by the sunlight.  I can wear Banana Boat Baby SPF 50 which is a sunblock that is for sensitive skin.  It still will cause some irritation if I wear it several days in a row.  Unfortunatey I didn’t wear it today and I got sick while working in the yard much faster than usual (cause I also wear a hat/drape/long-sleeve shirt, etc). take care, kc cat – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->Jim & Tina Carmichael wrote in message <36F2A0D4.1D8FE…@funtv.com>… >>Does anyone have trouble wearing sunscreen?  I’ve tried various kinds. >>They all make me feel ill–I get nauseus (sp?) and sick feeling. I’ve got very sensitive skin which has reacted to other sunscreens in the past (even before I got sick), but at the moment I’m having good results with Hawaiian Tropic ‘Bioshield’ 30 SPF facial sunblock. It contains titanium dioxide, without producing that lovely reflective white mask effect that many of the TiO2 sunscreens produce. The packet says it is suitable for daily use.
