scleroderma (is it contagious?)

Question:

Is scleroderma contagious? I have been in direct contact with a person who has this disease on a day by day basis for 3 months. Do I have any chance of catching it? Thanks

Response:

No, you can’t "catch" scleroderma.  Scleroderma isn’t a germ, it’s an autoimmune response from your body.  Neither can you "catch" Lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, other autoimmune diseases. Contact the Scleroderma Foundation for more information about the disease. www.scleroderma.com or 1-800-722-HOPE <rleimgru…@yahoo.com> wrote in message

If it were, several friends and family members

would have "caught" it from me by now. I had it for some time before I was diagnosed. Read back over the group until you find the Scleroderma FAQs posted. They’re posted by the same person. If you have trouble finding it, here’s the link: http://www.synnovation.com/sclerodermafaq.html Hope this helps.
