Question:

Rachel, My husband is going through the same thing you are.  The doctors initially thought he’d had a stroke, but it’s not "behaving" like a stroke – one of the doctors at the rehab he was at suspected MS. The initial MRI showed 2 "miniscule" spots, but we were told it was a normal MRI.  The second MRI came back normal.  He also had a VER and LP, both of which came back negative.  Yet the vision problems, lack of sensory ability on his right side, weakness, fatigue, headaches in the back of his head…the list goes on and the symptoms continue! You are not alone!  Stick with this group, tho – I’ve been lurking here for a while now and have gotten much valuable information from the wonderful folks here. Carolynn

Hello everyone.. I have a question for you all.  Has anyone had all the symptoms of MS (almost every one on the symptom list- weakness, dizziness, double vision, stiffness of muscles, fatigue, etc etc) but NOT shown up on any of the tests?? I have been to way too many neurologists, some of whom have very good reputations, and no one can figure out what is wrong with me since I apparently am not obviously responding to the clinical tests or the lab tests.. I have been through all the tests they have to rule out other stuff too.. Please anyone who can help me out here respond.  I am absolutely out of ideas right now. thanks very much Rachael

hi rachael, have you had an MRI?  that’s how i was dx after 5 years of being told that i had seizures. peggy

Hi Peggy I think I mistakenly only replied to you personally but yes I have had several negative MRI’s and other tests.. they are telling me they have ruled out everything else neurological, and some other stuff like diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, lyme, lupus etc.. lots and lots of blood tests, evoked potentials, and spinal.. the whole bit. One day I sure hope that this disease has a blood test or something easier for people to go through.. Guess I will just have to be in the undiagnosed but symptomatic crowd for now and try (pulling hair here :) to be patient. thanks for your reply and everyone elses who did… if anyone else has any thoughts on this please keep writing.
