I called the gastro doc and asked to talk to my old doc, the one retiring. He never answered my letter…well he is not in the office only one day and maybe not that, so who the H knows if he got my letter. Receptionist kinda got snotty when I asked if they still have me on the list to call if someone can not come in..she says " If you were put on the list then you will get called….DUH LADY>>>>> So I hung up…then called the family doc and have an appointment for monday with her….this is rediculous… I did set in the john, but forgot my book and did have more than, excuse me a turd…hahaha (another dirty post here ) I also emailed a friend of mine from the lupus chapter who is president, and asked her to forward the names of good gastro docs in that area…I will get some help here if it kills me……. — Janers "Somedays are diamonds, Somedays are stones" Somedays this pain won’t leave me the hell alone"

Hi Janers, I am also on Prevacid 30mg but was told to take it just before eating. I take it just before breakfast and have tolerated it well (lucky I guess). Used to be on Prepulsid which was 20 mins before meals, twice a day, and was a pain regarding the timing. Vioxx gave me the same bowel probs as you. I feel for you….9 months pregnant with gas… cheers, Lil

Wow! I’ve been on Prevacid (or Prilosec) for 5 years now, but had to go up to twice a day in February. I didn’t make any connection with my constipation and loss of appetite until I read your post. My GI doc told me I can’t take it twice a day for more than 6 months, so I’ve dropped my dose down, but don’t have good relief. Your post(s) really brightened my night. It’s good to know that this stuff is "normal" for those of us with bodies that play new tricks on us each day. Thanks for giving us the poop, I mean scoop. Janers, I take my prevacid at night with my other meds. Have they thought about going to 15 mg. tabs and working up to the 30 mg? Gosh, it’s strange how one med can help one person, but be anothers’ nightmare. It is very possible that the red dye in the capsules causes the problem. My pharmacist told me several people (besides me) had a reaction to prevacid similar to yours. Sometimes the pharmacist knows more than he doctors about bad reactions to meds. -=JR=- Words themselves aren’t guilty or innocent, but if you use those words knowing that your audience will find them offensive, *you* are guilty. –M

before supper. then about 3 hours later I feel awful. Try not taking it one night to see if it brings relief. Maybe? >I sit and well you all know the routine, wait and wait and wait and nothing
but little turd…waste of my time. What are you reading while you’re waiting? Learn a new language? Perhaps you need something more *stimulating*……. LOL because I’ve been there. Wait, I think I’ll be going there….the new Reader’s Digest just came in! to our health kelly

I’ve been on Prevacid 30mg with no problem until a few weeks ago. I now have these reflux attackes out of nowhere. Even standing up!!! I see my rheum in the morning, so I’m going to ask him about increasing the dose. Now, I’ll also ask him about the side effects. I also have IBS, and now I’m wondering if this may be contributing to some of the flares of that. Oh, well…at least my rheum is very good looking. Take care, and Happy New Year to the Jewish members of this wonderful group! Tracy "if you’re on thin ice you may as well dance…"

Hi Tracy: Wow…how cool was it to see a "Happy New Year" wish…everyone tells me that i am going to really like using my new computer and so far they are right.. keeps me sort of sane…and it’s nice to see another Jewish face in the crowd.. Happy New Year to you and yours… i wish my rheumatologist was soooo good looking…except it’s a "she" lol…my first time with a woman doctor and i like her a lot..i get a lot of support from her and she really understands my pain… anyway, i guess part of our problem is weird side effects from meds. it gets really frustrating but i know exactly how you feel. so hang in there…maybe adjusting the dose will help… c-ya judi

What’s up with this, I’ve never had IBS so bad as I’ve had it in the past couple of months. Does anyone have a theroy? I know this is a pretty mess post but hey we’re all human!! It’s embrassing to
