Good Evening All, Gosh, I tried to read all the posts that gathered over the weekend. I only managed to get bogged down. I hope I didn’t miss anything important. Would everyone be willing to give updates for me? I don’t know how everyone is doing these days. BJ-Sk. Canada

We are thawing here too, Bruce. The dogs are a muddy mess, but they love to walk, so we go to enjoy the milder air. We all curl up for a big sleep afterwards. The fresh air does us in. BJ-Sk. Canada "bruce" <mcode0…@rogers.com> wrote in message

Wait a sec.  That last sentence doesn’t go away without some elaboration. About the puppies? or what? Hugs J – the curious one

Response:

Hi Lyndal, Glad to hear things are going so well.  You mentioned puppies, then newspapers. The two go hand in hand. That made me wonder if you meant that you made it to the newspaper, <g> rather than made it into the newspaper. That was a bit of a cliffhanger, don’t you think? Seriously, what is the news article about. More details please. BJ-Sk. I don’t think so.  I checked back in his posts and stopped at his rectal transplant post (the 12th) ROTFL > when we were talking about his choral concert for lupus awareness? > brain fog sets in…… da da dum!

The time difference between here (USA) and Australia is just about 12 hours depending on which time zone everyone lives in. I don’t think it matters much exactly but when we start thinking about going to bed she’s probably already had her coffee and is at her office and it’s the next day for her. Thanks Bev, Unfortunately I’ll never remember this and will probably be asking again (yes, Andy). Loved your photo.  So different from the one with the floppy hat that you circulated a year or so ago. OK Gang!  Sorry, when I wrote that I was on my way out and left you a 2 second thing. 1.  The puppies are great and not making it any where near the newspaper! *grin* 2. The article was not about lupus (although you are right, it was in the same thread about Andy’s radio interview and choral concert (I will never forget Andy MacStilted tee hee) 3. I am a bit of a political animal – Chairman of the Shoalhaven Division of General Practice and , as we have a state government election this Saturday, I was interviewed by the paper regarding issues with billing and federal funding of health.  To cut a long story short, the govt. introduced a system 30yrs or so agio where the govt pays for medical consultations – it is called Medicare and applies to every Australian regardless of income or status.  Free universal health care for all.  The system is "bulk billing" and the doctor would bill the govt instead of the patient.  Problem is as population ages, medical care becomes more expensive and services used more, the govt can’t afford to increase the rebate to the GP per consultation.  So in 1993 we got $20 Aus per consult, 10 years later we only get $25 Aus.  GPs can’t run a business on this and have started billing the patients privately (about $35-40 per consult –  of which they still get $25 back from govt). The patients hate this (although personally its not too bad compared to elsewhere..and this is in Aus dollars too), but some can’t afford it and think its our fault for being greedy doctors, but its the govt’s fault for failing to act and take responsibility for an appropriate cost of health care.  Anyway…that’s what its about.  I can email it to you if you like, but may be boring to someone overseas! Explained now?  I have had every second patient saying to me…"say your article, I didn’t know the govt only paid you $25 per consult, we thought you earned more than that- aren’t they lousy?"…so at least the article worked!! Lyndal PS And I’m in my PJs about to go to bed!!  Can’t work out the time difference! "Andy" <a…@kitzbuhel.demon.co.uk> wrote in message

Thanks for explaining LPN. We may end up having similar here in Canada. It’s being discussed, then tossed, then discussed. I know our physicians don’t get paid enough for each appointment.
