Question:
I was told my ANA was 12. I’ve only seen ANA in a titer (1:80, 1:160, etc) So, what’s 12? TIA Nicole

perhaps the lab that did the titre reports in #’s of dilutions vs. the actually dilution value. 12 dilutions then would make it…. uh… well, extremely high. 1:81920. this isn’t impossible but unlikely so I suspect my guess above is wrong.
I have seen this kind of reporting on ANA before but have yet to hear an explanation of how it relates to ratios. perhaps a call to the lab (not all docs understand what a number means other than it’s relevance to your illness). there may be a website out there that has something though like you I’ve only ever seen it expressed as a ratio. *********************************** KCat – I am not a medical professional. ROFL! I just had more labs done so hopefully this one will come back in a way I can understand it. Thanks! Nicole "KCat" <kcdoc…@ghg.net> wrote in message

That’s something I don’t understand, either. When my rheumy gives me my ANA, he gives me a four digit number, for example, 1600. So does that mean it’s 1:16? Or is it some different type of scale? ~ Oriole ~~ The crows seemed to be calling his name, thought Caw…
Response:
I’d suspect it’s 1:????…whatever the four digit number is. That’s respectably high, though not unsually so. ANA titers have been known to get up into the thousands, though more with Sjogrens than lupus. Sandra
