Question:
Has anyone applied for and actually received insurance approval for Rituxin for ITP and/or Lupus? Thank you for any answers.
Response:
Not for lupus or ITP. But there’s a clinical trial for Rituxan (Rituximab) at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for Wegener’s granulomatosis. The reason I bring up the clinical trial is that if a person is enrolled in a clinical trial, generally the medications and travel to the clinic are paid for by the study. Dr. Ulrich Specks is the principle investigator. You might call the Study Coordinators at 507-284-9009 to see if there are any other clinical trials using Rituxan for which you might be able to enroll. If you go to http://www.clinicaltrials.gov and search for "rituxan", you will find 71 studies listed. #41 is for rituximab treating lupus. The study is still recruiting. If you qualified, you would get rituximab free. For details on the study, click on #41 and the details and eligibility for the study will come up. Good luck…. — Bruce
