yah… she takes it with food, fairly low dose and with tagamet. and of course we’ll keep an eye on her liver/kidneys if she has to stay on it any length of time. i swear the dog is psychic.  i have *never* given her extra food after her dinner.  But last night I felt it had been too short between doses of the med so I was thinking about 9 p.m. that I’d give her a handful of food and her pills (she doesn’t spit them out like most dogs).  so, about 9 she starts pushing her "cube" around (a device that she has to roll around to get the kibble to come out) and huffing at me to put food in it.   Ron said she had read my mind. >SnowBear sends purrs.

many thanks to the furball.  I’m sure Bay would recip.   Or eat him. (her?)

Her – and she’d win Bay over in a heartbeat. -=JR=-

Poor Doggie!! Maybe the new RX will help her out. You can tell her that spring isn’t too far away…….warmer weather is coming!! Our elderly Collie took medication for his arthritis. He was 13 when he started taking it. It gave him another good 2 years. We were thankful for those years…. barbtoo east tennessee

KCat – B*tthead’s tummy problems might be from lessening exercise, or just the pain. Watch her with the new meds (as *if* I have to tell you<g>) to make sure they don’t make the tummy worse. SnowBear sends purrs. "KCat" <kcdoc…@ghg.net> wrote in message

Bless her heart!  I hope that the meds work really quick, and that the x-rays don’t show anything serious. I have had to put my Chocalate Lab on medication because he is having a hard time adjusting to the loss of our Black Lab. Hugs, Sherry

Response:

Hi KCat, Our old dog is on glucosamine. The vet says that 70% of dogs show improvement on it. Our girls is doing well. She is 13 so that tells you something. Do let us know how Bayta makes out. There are a lot of dog lovers here. BJ- dog lover #1 "KCat" <kcdoc…@ghg.net> wrote in message

Response:

Well, Bayta went to see her doctor today. A few months ago I had asked the doc if the warm spots on Bay’s back were something to be concerned about. You could feel areas of her spine that were feverish feeling compared to the rest of her. "probably nothing" doc says (’scuse me, andy, VET) But today she looked more closely – saw that Bay is not comfortable extending her hind legs.  Saw that when she gently pinched along her spine Bay’s skin "jumped" (how to say that???)  Anyway – says she’s probably in considerable pain and it’s either arthritis in her hips and her back is sore/spasming from trying to favor her hips. arthritis in hips and spondylosis in spine.  or something in between. I had told her before that bay favored her back right leg… she noticed today how much larger her left leg muscles are (something I’d never really paid attention to) implying that she’s relying more on her left hip than right.  Her eyes and ears are fine. Eyes are a tiny bit cloudy – but no more than what one would expect from an 8 y.o.   She will get x-rays fri to confirm <worried frown> and right now she is on rimadyl to help ease the pain and inflammation.  we’ll know by or before Friday if it is helping – because hopefully she’ll be less vocal and less clingy.  We are suspecting the clinginess is not only emotional but physical based on her discomfort.  Likewise, bumping into things may be  because she is letting her body direct her vs. her eyes.  (large turning radius. <G>)  We’ll see.  If the results of the x-ray are as expected, she will go on doggy chondroitin/glucosamine with the intent to reduce the need for anti-inflammatories.   She’s on Tagamet to try to help the gas … we can only guess on that one right now as her diet hasn’t changed and she really hasn’t had this problem in her previous years.  Knowing how all that stuff can be tied together (my gut and my back and all that other stuff can hurt at once) then it’s *possible* her gut is disturbed by the constant discomfort. So… I’ll let ya’ll know more on Fri night or Sat.  I know it’s OT but since I’ve gotten so much help on this one, thought ya’ll would like to  know. with that – I bid you good night.  My neck hurts from too much time in front of the PC and a hormone headache from last night – joy joy joy.
