<snip> Just want to say how BS is that?  How can an insurance company do this to their clients?  I mean, insurance only loses money if people claim on their insurance, and that’s what it’s bought for.  So if you are only allowed three, then bye-bye!, that’s just disgusting! -Sharon

Since this was not their fault, it may come under a "comprehensive" clause, so there would not be any penalty.

Response:

Damn Bev,  now I am pissed. How aweful that happened but I agree with everyone’s advice, call the police and call your insurance people. Then call the fuel company and ask if it is at all possible to pay for the fuel LATER.  I mean have them give you a few months to do it.  They don’t need their damn money now…  Give it time. Hang in there woman, now I know I want to come there and help out. Sorry but I can’t though.  Poop.  How aweful.  And good for George to put a pad lock on the tank. hugs janers

All I’m saying is check first– my friends were just cancelled because they had 3 claims and now might lose their home because they can’t find any insurance and they might lose their mortgage.  None of the claims were their fault, it was things like the wind blew the roof off… A lot of radio talk show hosts are trying to put light on this, and they say it’s BS, too.  I agree that it’s wrong, it’s just like auto insurance… -Aerochick "J Rogow" <JRo…@SpammenotNewsguy.com> wrote in message

<snip> Hi Aerochick, I hope you know I wasn’t venting about you, but about the insurance BS.   Sorry if it came across as at you. I’m glad it’s being brought into the light.  Maybe some questions will be answered.  But somehow, I doubt things will change, at least sometime soon.  Hopefully some day these insurance companies will be held accountable. -Sharon — ~Integrity~ Integrity is one of the several paths. I’d be p*ssed too!!  What a nasty, awful thing to do to someone. Cops are right when they say thieves will steal anything these days.  Hopefully your insurance will cover this. Maureen

yeah – move to texas and try to get homeowners’ insurance that covers squat now.  *(&#$#*(&$ floods.  And our home has never flooded despite 3 ft of rain in 2 days.

Response:

We do have homeowners insurance but they do not touch such little claims – that is why we all have deductibles. Also there is the problem of proving just how much oil was in the tank. We know how big the tank is and we know how much oil was on the stick when we checked it last. It’s just one of those things in life that s*cks. It was a mean rotten thing for somebody to do to us. It cost us more than just oil. But we replaced it. Now there is a darn padlock on the thing. It is probably more important for us to just pick up the pieces and figure out how to survive until the next pay day. And hope we do not have any more such cr*ppy things go wrong. I know what it is like to live without heat. The difference is I would never steal it to get some. So maybe some things are lacking. But we do have heat. I’ll bake a batch of cookies and fix my husband Tourtiere for Xmas. There are packages to be unwrapped on Xmas morning. I’ve got a brand new refrigerator and a husband who has beaten cancer. A tree standing in the living room does not make Xmas. I have a beautiful old house and it’s filled with love. So I’ll drag out the candles tomorrow and stick them in the windows. We’ve had better Christmases and we’ve had worse ones. (Facing the cancer last year was one of the worse ones.) I’m not going to allow some rotten criminal steal my Xmas spirit. Response:

Bev, Will your homeowners insurance cover the theft of the fuel?  File a police report and check out the insurance!!!!!!!  Can’t hurt and that should be some help in recovering the money. I swear that it just never ends!  I get so damned tired of stuff like this that just adds to all the other $h^! we have to deal with. It seems that locks on your doors and cars only keep honest people honest. Those that are gonna steal will figure out a way to do so.  Maybe the lock on the fuel tank will slow down the thief the next time he (she) wants to strike. Hang in there!  Wish I could help.  We heat with wood.  No other heat in the house and they want to "outlaw" fireplaces and woodstoves. Hugs, Sherry

CALL THE POLICE Seriously, if you file a report there is a chance your homeowners insurance may cover the loss.  Even if it doesn’t, it will help when the police find the felon, and the oil company may reimburse you when he/they is/are found.

I guess !  Desperate people stealing from other people or greedy people trying to make a buck ! Are you sure the tank’s not leaking?  Is it above-ground or below?  (underground would be hard to see, I guess) Otherwise, seems to me someone would have to be watching your house and/or know your schedules. I mean, they would need a truck and a tank on it, to collect the oil and take it away. No quiet, obscure feat ! Seems to me I even read once that oil delivery people were doing that, but I can’t remember who/where/when I read about that. Maybe the drivers making money on the side, sort of thing. I don’t know about the insurance thing. Usually that’s a double-edged sword. The more one claims, the next renewal, the rate goes up? So sorry Bev, J

Just thinking– but if you use the same retailer (supplier) of fuel all the time, maybe if you call them and tell them what happened, they might sell you replacement fuel at cost… ????  Sometimes small towns are good about this type of thing. I’d warn against filing a claim on your homeowners insurance, though.  3 claims and you’re out.  I heard it on the news the other day- all of the insurance companies are doing this now, even if you’ve been their client for 20 years… So I don’t know if it’s worth it to claim 150 bucks.  But yes on the call the police thing!  They might know of someone that’s been doing this and need more information… Good luck, Aerochick "Aerochick" <aeroch…@earthlink.net> wrote in message

There goes what plans I had for Christmas shopping. Skip the tree I don’t have money for that either now! Food? Yep, there are some things left in the pantry to eat until the next payday. We aren’t going to starve. I’m so blooming mad I can’t see straight. Why did they steal from me? Because I’m working a two bit job for $5/hr? So I’m not home to catch someone stealing my oil! You just don’t siphon 150 gals in one fell swoop – it had to be done over several days here and there. If we had taken delivery of oil last night it would have cost us an extra $50. Fuel guy said go dump a couple of gals diesel fuel in there overnight. Then relight the furnace, etc. all at night, in the bitter cold, when it should have been bedtime! (Hubby also drilled holes someplace in the darn tank thing so we can put a padlock on it. Like a padlock is really going to stop thieves around here!) So now, I get to be late for work so I can wait for the fuel truck. Which means less pay! Vicious cycle. So p*ssed!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh golly.  I get as mad as you are in this letter when this happens!!!  I remember during the fuel shortage in CA we had to put locking gas caps on our cars because of the same thing.  (But we didn’t lose 150 gallons!!) I’ve been ripped off before and I know how it feels personal.  Like they picked you to steal from because of …. fill in the blank…  I’m so sorry to hear about this.  Vent as much as you’d like, I can relate!!! Wish I could help… -Aerochick "Beverley" <pottings…@sybercom.net> wrote in message
