OT: Dog Days

Question:

I just have the worst time with these dogs.  I know I’ve spent more time on teaching them those cute little tricks, rather than disclipine, but I really don’t deserve the stuff they put me through. I went to the pet store this evening to buy a no-jump harness for Lucy, so she couldn’t go over the fence.  Figured I’d take her inside, just in case there were several sizes.   "Stay Ricky!"   Huh-uh!   "Yes Ricky, you stay!"   Nope!  She goes, *I* go!   And there he went! There were at least 8 people involved in getting him back to me.  This doesn’t even include the police officer that came along a few minutes later or the family of 4 observing from the sidewalk.  I was mortified. I’m still mortified. He finally went to one a nice lady, after he marked his territory on 2 bushes & one tire.  I’m just hoping the harness works.  Especially since figuring it out, was harder than getting Ricky back in the car.   Slugs are sounding better & better to me….. Maggie : )

Honey, you may want (if you can afford to) get them into dog training school before more trouble or harm comes to you.  Z’s dog used to yank on her arms, caused her mucho pain and stress (and sometimes got away) and dogs love to walk and need their runs for heart health. Hugs J

Hi J! Obedience training? Tell me about it!  LOL!  I can’t afford *to* do it & I can’t afford *not* to.  I am trying tips from the internet, until my refund for property taxes come in.  Whichever works/happens first! It’s amazing how they listen to commands until they’re out in some "environment."  And Lucy knows not to go over that fence if I’m outside. This all tells me that they’re just testing me. Lucy is laying on the bed with her no-jump harness on.  It’s a cool little device, but getting it on is a PIB!  They’re humane devices, btw. She ran all over the yard & wrestled with Ricky, but she can’t stretch her legs to jump now.  However, she’s not "jumping" the fence, she’s *climbing* it. LOL!  <reaching for Tylenol> Hugs4u, Maggie
