Question:
Hey you all I have created a forum for my mother that has lupus, and I am wanting more people to come and sign up to talk to her. She has had lupus for over 13 years now and it means something to me when people come to my web site and discuss things with my mom. Thanks and the address is http://www.joshcombs.com Thanks ———————- Josh Combs j…@joshcombs.com www.joshcombs.com
Response:
Can’t access at all with either Netscape nor IE. In Netscape I get a blank page. In IE I get "page cannot be found" Seems to be a portal?? <frameset cols="*"> <frame name="portal" target="rbottom" src="/phpBB2/portal.php" scrolling="auto"> </frameset> <head><title>.:www.joshcombs.com:.</title></head> Withholding judgement on this one, perhaps it’s valid but just an web page design flaw? But again, hold your e-mails (to him) till we can figure out what the web page is about, ok? I accessed it and it seems legit re the lupus section, but mostly about his life at home, work, girls and his car. It is based on frames (I checked out the ’source’) and if you don’t have a higher than IE4 (I think) then you won’t be able to ’see’ frames. and you will get the html code you saw. from Shelagh <:) valleylu…@telus.net Lupus – Invisible in Plain Sight AT http://www3.telus.net/valleylupus/index.html

Thanks Shelagh Sounds familiar to a previous post earlier this year. i did access it now with IE and nothing found there about his "claimed" mother (who has Lupus). And why can’t she post to ASL or the other forum (Janers? isn’t there another one?) So I’m not missing much with my Netscape. Beware motivations ya’ll. J – wondering if this website is all about him and collecting "girls" names??? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Shelagh wrote: > I accessed it and it seems legit re the lupus section, but mostly about > his life at home, work, girls and his car. Hey J His mom can go to google and type in lupus new group. There we are, bigger than life…she can post all she wants from that site. Personally, I think that was a fluke to get us to go to his site. Awe and YOU guys bit. Not me…I have will power..cause I don’t eat grits LOL.. like Wendy said. Enough of that already.. hugs janers
Response:
Well Never mind then I will yank the lupus stuff off of my website. If you all think I am just trying to get people to come to my website. Well You guessed wrong. I am trying to make a website for people like you and this is how you treat me? I am just trying to help you. She does go to all of the other lupus forums, I just wanted to make something for her so would know it came from me. Thanks. Take it for it’s worth. If you believe that I made this post in this newsgroup just to stir up some visits believe it. But I know that I did not make this post for that reason. ———————- Josh Combs j…@joshcombs.com www.joshcombs.com "Josh Combs" <joshco…@cinci.rr.com> wrote in message

I just hit on his forum to see what all he had going and found a tiny bit on a lupus talk area for his mother… I don’t think he realizes that most of us are oldies either … ‘we are aren’t we’? from Shelagh <:) valleylu…@telus.net Lupus – Invisible in Plain Sight AT http://www3.telus.net/valleylupus/index.html

Don’t get so uptight about it!! mostly we are joking with each other, as a laugh a day keeps the doctors away; and it is very nice of you to do that for your mom, REALLY. You should promote it a little better though if you want to draw people through search engines … in your code put keywords for the searchers like lupus, group, talk, forum etc. and good luck with it! from Shelagh <:) valleylu…@telus.net Lupus – Invisible in Plain Sight AT http://www3.telus.net/valleylupus/index.html

REALLY ! duh me..I just made the connection (Tina Coombs?). If so, I sure do apologize Josh. Long/hard day yesterday..brain fog. > []. and good luck with it!
Yep, and maybe a "blurb" (somewhere there above the posts) about Lupus and his mother .. That’s the part that bothered me…couldn’t find anything obviously "Lupus". And didn’t see any posts by any recognizable names/posters from ASL. Wouldn’t Tina want to show as one of the posters (such as "Welcome" or something) so we can find her topics? J PS Still think the web page should be compatible to IE, Netscape and webtv-ers (if he wants people Lupies or not, to visit..not everyone here nor in the world, has the latest greatest software/hardware.

Josh wrote me last evening. I expressed that I did not like the idea of him emailing me at home then he apologized and sent me to another site that is his mom’s. Brenda is her name J, not Tina. She has a site and it does deal with lupus and a few pictures of family. Also lots of the stuff would not come up when clicked on. As Far as Josh, well I think he just wanted to help but went about it in a round about way.. Josh, if you are reading, send you mom here and have her say hello. Maybe we can all use a different view once in awhile. janers

it’s important to understand that folks here have a heavy (healthy?) dose of skepticism. We’ve been hit so many times with spam and with "snake oil" that we are very cautious. It’s not an excuse – it’s a reason. And others had some good advice for better techniques of informing people. make sure you give more direct access to the lupus info rather than just your home page – stuff like that. Good luck and take our suspicous (well-earned) nature with a grain of salt. kcat
