NEURONTIN (sp?)

Question:

GADS.  for ONCE i am getting stable and on a realllllly grate combo of meds. the Li and the zyprexa are really giving me a whole new life. i am really loathe to try ANYTHING new as this feeling of stability is so new and precious to me, and im sure those who love me. no meds have yet been suggested for me.  but i did read that neurontin is one they use for lupus, so i thought id run it by you guys.  thanks for the input. still doin great, love, –tink

Response:

I am really struggling to stay positive towards my life and life goals despite my recent mood change, today (Sat), towards stressed related anxiety and soon to be depression and suicidal thoughts if I don’t continue race ahead of them and stay on top.. each minute it gets more difficult to hold on.. thank god for sleep in two hours.. I can not handle this any longer today.  I hope tomorrow turns out better than today did… Heather Rae (Fawnhawk)

Response:

I was one of those people that Neurontin induced mania.  I was motivate-motivate-motivate while taking it.  Wish it had worked.  People who can take it seem to swear by it.  And it doesn’t seem to cost as much as Topomax and Lamictal, which is what I’m taking now. Kate – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – My doc actually suggested at one point that I replace my lithium with neurontin — some pdocs use it as a mood stabilizer.  We decided against it because there is some evidence that it can have an antidepressant effect and we were afraid that it could induce mania in my manic trigger-happy biochemistry. -Gandalf There is a silence where hath been no sound There is a silence where no sound may be In the cold grave, under the deep deep sea. - Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Chelly, you  asked me in a different post about my med change.  It was: add 5mg zyprexa, one week later add neurontin, 3X300mg, this week 4X400…..these additions were made to 1500mg lithium.  Zyprexa is temp expect to quit after one month. Neurontin and Lithium, expect to stay on both but change ratio to favor neurontin.  So, can I call you Sis, we are on the same meds,  and I am a handful  when out of control. I was having familiar feelings that precede "out of control" that was the reason for the zyprexa.  My complaint now is I can hardly keep from dosing off at the drop of a hat. LW

i havent YET started the neurotin…  i suppose they will start me on it if its indeed indicated on the 25th when i see my rheumie doc again.  also that day i see my pdoc….  so well know soon.  ya know LW, zyprexa doesnt make me tired AT ALL, and i take 2 10 mg tabs a day!  wonder whats wrong w/ me?  all i hear from people is that zyprexa knocks them out.  hmmmmm love, –tink

Response:

Response:

tinkerbell, I am currently taking ZYPREXA (5mg/day), NEURONTIN (1800 mg/day), and LITHIUM (2400 mg/day). I’ve been taking this combination since January with no problem.YMMV. Duke

Response:

Neurontin plus lithium is a great combo.

[:+) [:+) i have been reading in the lupus boards that neurontin is used to control the [:+) neurological complications of Lupus that i am having....... i wonder how this [:+) will affect me, since i already take lithium (1500 mgs per day) and zyprexa (20 [:+) mgs per day) [:+) anyone have any thoughts on this?  james?  hehe [:+) love, [:+) --tink [:+) [:+)I take Neurontin and it works as a mood stabilizer most of the time - certainly [:+)cuts the highs for me, but lets lows in under the door and if I leave the window [:+)open a crack sometimes.  Best advice is, "Ask you doctor." Good luck. [:+) [:+)-Roger- [:+)

Glad to hear you’re doing better.  I just started on Nuerontin, still on Li (gradually stopping) and Lamictal.  Too early to tell but I think I feel more clear and energetic with 900mg Neurontin and down to 600mg Li.  First few days was kind of spacy, floaty feeling.  Today I’ve been a little bit hypomanic, but far better than the zombie I was at 1200mg Li. I’ve been around these groups a while and have heard many rave reviews for this wonder drug.  It seems that it’s important to spread out doses but pdocs are unaware of this including the ones who write the literature. *        *       *    *      *      *      *        *   *       *    *    *   *    *   *        Aurora  *   *     *     *     *      * *     *   *    *       *   *     *   *      *     *   *   *    *  *

Hey Tink! I have Lupus as well, and go figure, it affects my central and peripheral nervous systems!  Sometimes it’s hard to tell what is Lupus and what is BPD..hehe…I see it all symbolically as Romulus and Remus (BPD…the twin founders of Rome who were raised by a wolf, ‘Lupus’) Nice to meetcha!  And if you could point me in the direction of some Lupus boards I’d be much obliged. ;) Ren
