Question:
Hi all, I am not sure what to do. My chest is hurting so very bad when I breathe in only on my right side. I have a little cough and I am starting to feel tired. I am on MTX and Plaq, prednisone, celebrex, Ultram, folic acid, and sometimes tylenol. This is the fourth time in the last week that I have had this pain, I am now at my worse. I am not sure of what to do it is almost 9 o clock here in the eve and I do not have a afterhours phone# for my doc.

Hi Rhonda, Sorry to have received this a day late. I hope you are feeling better today. Did you go see your doctor? I think it’s very important. If not I would consider the ER as chest pain is nothing to take lightly. Can you get an after hour number for your doctor today, to have in the future? Take care and remember this is only temporary. Hi Rhonda, Is there another clinic that you could call? My doctor has an after hours emergency #. He is not always the one on call, but I can talk to another doctor. Perhaps there would be a clinic # in the phone book or through the information operator. I think you should go to an ER if you can’t get advice by telephone. Are you alone? Hi, Rhonda. I hope you’re better tonight. Don’t hesitate to go to ER if you have to. Then get on the phone to your doctor and have them check your lungs. Methotrexate can affect lungs/breathing/etc. I had to go off of it because of a nasty cough and hives. Will be praying for you. Rebecca in Denver

I am on intravenous MTX (50mg a week). I was taking folic acid and i told my doctor. He said to cut back on the folic acid because MTX interferes with folic acid in the liver and defeats the MTX. So, you might talk to your doctor about this. I am in much pain too. Sometimes I take more prendisone. That helps with the pain but more prendisone raises blood sugar and in the long term will lead to diabettes and cataracks. I know because prendisone did that to me. Hello John, Where’s Pocohontas? Inside joke, my ex’s name (in English) was John Smith. The US Customs gave a hassle on that. I’m sorry about your pain. I don’t recall seeing you post before (but I haven’t been here for many years). Do you have Lupus? (or some other autoimmune disorder?) I feel an introduction is in order here. I’m J (Shelagh calls me Julia). I think I have autoimmune thyroid (Hashimoto’s) and some Raynauds and Fibro (I’ll spare you the rest). My brother’s ANA has been increasing over the years and when I heard about it, I told him he should get checked for Lupus. Well, 3 years later, and he’s still on some "fuzzy" wait list to get to see a rheumatologist (Canada), so in the meantime, I make a pest of myself on this newsgroup and Sometimes I’m actually helpful. <g>.
