Question:

Does anyone have a site that lists explanations for diseases, drugs or treatments that would be easy to access? My books are not really up to date and basically I’m looking for definitions.  Thanks, hope for a gentle day for all. Cindy

Response:

Hi Cindy, I’m fond of www.medicinenet.com.  It lists everything in alphabetical order under different categories, or you can use their search feature. Mel "GDStidham" <gdstid…@aol.com> wrote in message

As a long-time lurker, I want to say thanks for all the really usefull information on this group. Particularly, I want to thank Melanie for the tip to www.medicinenet.com.  I was unaware of it. I checked it out and it’s great!. My lupus is mild but of long duration.  It’s been particularly annoying this last year.  I have learned a lot from all of you.  I truly admire the strength and courage of those of you who have so much more of a problem than I. By the way, as a transplanted (to California) British person I particularly enjoy Andy’s wit and humor. Thanks again, Jackie,    jane…@hotmail.com or lkolb…@earthlink.net Melanie Kopfinger <kfin…@mindspring.com> wrote in message

I don’t know the URL by heart but do a search on the Merck Manual. They used to have an online version (and of course they offer both professional and "home" versions).  It’s pretty good.  I’ll look around for a dictionary here and let you know if I find anything (before someone else smarter gives you an answer…) For home I do have Dorland’s Medical Dictionary which I have found to be impressive.  It was of course, rather expensive and is not online to my knowledge. *********************************** KCat – I am not a medical professional.  The contents of this post are based soley on my experiences and opinions http://www.ghg.net/schwerpt/mypage.htm http://www.ghg.net/schwerpt/aslfaq20.htm   ("`-”-/").___..–”"`-._   (`6_ 6  )   `-.  (     ).`-.__.’`)    (_Y_.)’  ._   )  `._ `. “-..-”   _..`–’_..-_/  /–’_.’ ,’ (()),-”  (()),’    (((.-’

http://medical-dictionary.com/ try the above – it looks like an ad for buying a book but put your term in the search box and click "Look Up" http://www.sciencekomm.at/advice/dict.html another, click on Online Medical Dictionaries – gives many links to different dictionaries including the one above. Looks like these are two that could go in the FAQ eh? *********************************** KCat – I am not a medical professional.  The contents of this post are based soley on my experiences and opinions http://www.ghg.net/schwerpt/mypage.htm http://www.ghg.net/schwerpt/aslfaq20.htm   ("`-”-/").___..–”"`-._   (`6_ 6  )   `-.  (     ).`-.__.’`)    (_Y_.)’  ._   )  `._ `. “-..-”   _..`–’_..-_/  /–’_.’ ,’ (()),-”  (()),’    (((.-’
