Question:
Hello everyone- I’m new to the board. I good friend of mine moved to the DC area a while ago and is having trouble finding doctors to treat her lupus and other problems. Her condition seems to be worsening and I’m worried. She is looking for a rheumatologist that has experience with lupus patients and is close to Potomac, Maryland or one in DC or Northern Virginia. She’s also looking for other doctors –a dermatologist, neurologist, nephrologist, gastroenterologist, internist, and opthalmologist. Does anyone have any recommendations? Or is there anyone she should avoid? Thank you so much for your help… dpb

http://www.ama-assn.org/aps/amahg.htm Hi, the above url is a site where you can go to search for doctors in the US, through the AMA called a physician referral site. Hope this helps… I am a Canadian so can’t do much more for you except to wish you good luck! — Hugs from Shelagh http://continue.to/lupus "DPB" <doodle…@yahoo.com> wrote in message

Well try calling John Hopkins and seeing if they can give a list of their docs taking new patients. That’s one of the top hospitals in the USA. Bev "DPB" <doodle…@yahoo.com> wrote in message

how’s about contacting the nearest LFA office. They sometimes have referral lists – they can’t tell her who to see but they can give her a list of the available docs. The way most of the people I know have found the doctor they work best with has been through the real support groups. Talking to other lupies in her area can give her some insight before choosing. for the lupus chapter nearest her – go to http://www.lupus.org it should be fairly easy to find the chapters pages from there. can’t remember the exact URL, sorry.
