You need to carefully read the insurance policy.  Most policies have a clause where they will not cover preexisting conditions for the first year or two.  And if you were asked if you have any such conditions and were untruthful about it, they will cancel your insurance. Mary

Response:

I have good news.  I finally have health insurance, I think.  At least I got a bill for it today. Background info- my husband has been self-employed since May 97, partially because he needed the flexibility to rearrange his schedule to take care of me when I’m sick. The only insurance we could afford wouldn’t accept me because of my weight. Now we are covered, I think. Anyway, what do I do now?  I didn’t tell the insurance company that I have lupus. (probably a bad thing) So now I’m not sure if I should go see a doctor immediately or wait, (I haven’t seen the ins. co. policies about pre-existing conditions) Has anyone dealt with anything like this? Julie
