Thanks for the tips, in case I need it. Fortunately I don’t take pictures of me, so I can’t see the demise of my hair. :) >>Some good news about lump in throat… It is shrinking since the >>prevacid. Hopefully that mean no scope for me! > Great news! I take prevacid and have had good results.

Now that would drive me nuts too. How insensitive to say that to someone who is obviously suffering from the condition. Maybe offer to switch places with them for a holiday present, that way you can save some cash. ;p <snip> -Sharon — Clear your mind, relax and float downstream.

I should mention that I don’t do the full war-paint every day. Just when I’m working or going out in public. > >>Some good news about lump in throat… It is shrinking since the > >>prevacid. Actually, that’s not true about DaVinci’s paintings. The eyebrows and eyelashes disappeared over the years as various not-so-competant restorations were done. His "Salvator Mundi" has individual eyelashes…mostly because the painting was kept in a monastery away from direct sunlight for a couple hundred years. When the darkened varnish was carefully removed a couple years ago, they found that the painting had all the detail intact. This unfortunately isn’t true for the more famous paintings, which were restored multiple times over the years. However, I’ve been completely without eyebrows before. I took it as an artistic challenge. The real problem was finding a smear-proof liner that was the right color. My natural color _was_ auburn before the lupus started depigmenting sections of my hair and eyebrows. Once I finally found the right shade to work with, I actually managed to fool people into thinking I still had eyebrows. My eyelashes shed pretty fast for a while, but they grew back. In fact, when I started using pure borrage seed oil on my eyelid area, I quit having the inflammation that was making the eyelashes fall out. No more ingrown lashes (eeek) or red and bumpy eyelids. — Lee M.Thompson-Herbert l…@retro.com KoX 1995, SP4 Head Muso, White Rats Morris, Faultline Morris Member, Knights of Xenu (1995). Hi Sharon, > Just a little sulking today… My eyebrows now are losing hair. I am > not a happy camper. :(
I know how you feel, I’ve been losing them also. Mine are quite thin to begin with, so if I lose a few it’s a big deal. It matches the bald spot I have in the front, where my part is <g> . I use an eyebrow pencil to fill them in. Not sure if I’m losing hair because of meds., or what? > Some good news about lump in throat… It is shrinking since the > prevacid. Glad to hear the medication is working. > But I’m still upset about my eyebrows.

Thanks Maureen. ((((((Maureen))))) I guess I’ll be using the eyebrow pencil too. I am trying to decide whether or not I want to or not. I pride myself on not wearing make-up. I stopped when I entered high school, and haven’t used it since. Now that my eyebrow looks weird, I’m thinking that maybe this can be something tangible that people around me can see, so they can understand better that I am in fact sick. If that makes any sense. I don’t want to use the pencil just to make others more comfortable, when they don’t want to make my life more comfortable by poo-pooing my illness. -Sharon — Clear your mind, relax and float downstream.

For me, it’s a pure vanity thing. I’m always trying to hid the fact that I’m sick. People always make comments about the fact that I’m so thin, and if I tell them it’s because of UC, they say they wouldn’t mind having it to lose the weight
This comment really upsets me. > I don’t want to use the pencil just to make others more comfortable, > when they don’t want to make my life more comfortable by poo-pooing my > illness.
You should certainly do what makes you comfortable. Maureen

I’ve started using the eye brow gel in taupe and then brushing on some powder eyeshadow. It helps. My thinning hair is yet another story – I didn’t realize just *how* thin it was until I saw recent photos. > Some good news about lump in throat… It is shrinking since the > prevacid. Great news! I take prevacid and have had good results. > But I’m still upset about my eyebrows.
