Question:
I’ve moderated a different (non-lupus) group before. There are ways to create moderated groups on web forums (and some should be available but off-hand I don’t know any). There are also ways to provide moderated Usenet groups – but they typically require a third party re-mailer that will filter out crossposts, and force a moderator to approve new posters before letting them through. A good example of this is the STUMP Robomoderator. It allows the group to remain accessible for reading to anyone while making sure that the post-ers are not harmful to the group. It doesn’t really damage group participation IMO. HOWEVER, a group has to have more than one moderator to prevent one ruling over all. the nice thing about a service like STUMP is that it only requires a little bit of attention usually. once the "regulars" of the group are pre-approved, it’s only the occasional newbie that has to be manually approved – otherwise, the stump software filters everything else. The biggest drawback… they cost. and it’s not cheap. Webforums however are typically less expensive to set up as moderated. another problem can be when small ISPs don’t have the proper settings to allow for posting to moderated usenet groups – most ISPs are willing to work on that and there is a workaround through the robomod. Was that in English?

Hi everyone. I too am really offended by the smut that is sent our way in the name of the Beatles. As a fan of the Beatles and one that has every one of their recordings I am at a loss why they use the Beatle name. Recalling the words of many of their songs they spoke to an age that was trying to find themselves and was idealistic. When remembering some of the lyrics "all I need is love" and "I can get by with a little help from my friends". Who could have said it better about this lupus group? When a flare gets us down and nobody except another lupie can truly understand where would we turn to without ASL???? I can get by with a little help from my friends thanks and hugs to all ruth

Most news servers do not recognize cancels. Those that do allow them only from the original poster. To cut these post would require a moderated group. That means someone(s) reviews the post before it is sent to the group. Let’s see, BJ, you are here most of the time perhaps you would like to take on this postition? Yeah, that’s what I thought. And no, I don’t want to be in that position either Timothy — Most of the worlds great discoveries are made with a cry, not of "Eureka!" but "That’s funny".
