Not as far as I am aware. >   Hello everyone miss u all and hope u all are better than yesterday

Hi Deb, I don’t know about cataracts specifically but lupus can cause several problems with the eyes.  Most are not *common*, the most common problem is "cotton wool" which is a deposit within the liquid part of the eyeball (vitreous humour).  But there are other problems. According to Dr. Wallace "Lupus does not directly induce cataracts, or the clouding of the lens, but corticosteroids can."   I don’t recall if you are on steroids or not… On Tue, 13 Nov 2001 09:53:34 -0800 (PST), ladyonthebri…@webtv.net wrote: – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->   Having some real probs with my eye’s and i no that it is lupus cause >i just got new glasses. >   But my question is does lupus cause cateracks? >   Hello everyone miss u all and hope u all are better than yesterday >:-) >Debbie

If you’ve been on Prednisone, then that can be a cause of cataracts.   Sandra

Speaking of which. I am developing a cataract but it is very slow growning, thanks goodness but if you see like stars around objects, esp at night driving, then cataracts could definately be the culprit. You talked of vision changes?  Well in a little less than 2 years, I have had 3 lens changes…yep and it continues. I get exams yearly and when it happens in between.  Don’t help the pocket book any either. Why do glasses cost over $300.00 just for lenses. haha  well we do need our our don’t we. Vision changes occur with meds changes and some meds inparticularly, like cortisone as well as some bp and heart meds, then there is those pain pills as well as antidepressants, circulation, headache meds and well just about every kind.  Mostly for me it is the bp.  If finally you get the right med change, I suggest waiting for awhile for your med and body to adjust, then get to the eye doc and have him take a look. But again, if there is pain with it, call him or her asap…It could very well be due to an inflammation of the eye or vasculitis in and around the eye itself.  Oh so many things.  Just remember eye exams are needed….and should not be over looked. And how was your day. janers
