Response:
Yes, I have recently been perscribed Naprosyn for the swelling and arthritis symptoms, and I find that it is working alright. It is a non-addictive drug that does take the swelling down as far as the arthritis goes, but I have ben diagnosed as having a "swollen" heart and possibly lungs.. I still do not know too much about the whole thing, just that I am a 27 year old mother of three who is in a lot of pain most of the time, and this drug has had its advantages. Good Luck! janet, I wouldn’t worry about the doc believing you. Some folks do get faster responses from Plaquenil than others. It’s not unheard of. If your doc *doesn’t* believe you – perhaps he needs to read up on his specialty and it’s treatments (more recent information). The thing is it *can* take several months to start working – but that doesn’t mean it necessarily will. Just like Ultram. For me it worked within a day’s time. For a friend of mine, she gets relief with the first dose. For some it takes a week or more before it starts to work. This is true for Anti-depressants as well. Effexor made an *immediate* change in me. Within two days I felt like a huge cloud had been lifted from my brain. For others it might not work at all. All drugs are completely dependent on the individual’s ability to absorb, utilize and clear the med and there are no hard and fast rules for *any* med. ******************** kc cat kcdoc…@ghg.net http://www.ghg.net/schwerpt/mypage.htm ()() ().–.() (__) ()() ().–.() (__)

yes, I have lupus with constant recurrent pleurisy attacks. I have taken Naprosyn at 500 to 700 mg every 12 hours. It is very hard on the stomack. It helps with pain more than inflammation. At 500 to 700 it is supposed to help with both. It gives me tempoary relief for a month or two, sometimes I have to go back on prednisone to totally get rid of the inflammation.
Response:

I started out on Naprosyn but had no results at all. I have heard some people say it worked wonders for them but you know us lupees, we are all different. I have been on several NSAIDS and the most effective has been ibuprofen. My rheumatologist now wants to put me on plaquenil because I still get results from ibuprofen but not what I had in the past or what we would like to see. If you have any other questions or just want to talk I’m available. PandaIN.aol.com

Just a quick note to tell you that I too have been on several nsaids–naprosyn being one of them. Six weeks ago I went on Plaquenil, and I cannot tell you the difference it has made. I am beginning to feel like the "real me" again. In fact, I wish I had done it much sooner. I know that everyone says it takes several months to kick in, but I feel better than I have since being diagnosed six years ago. Right now, I am on the Plaquenil, 1000 mg Relafen, and 20mg elavil at bedtime. My pain has diminished by 80%. Only thing I am worried about is the doc believing me that this stuff worked so fast! Already been to eye doc TWICE as he was very cautious and wanted to see me in a month. Everything is fine! If you decide to try it, I hope it works as well for you.
