Question:
out. Their live show rivals Don Caballero. ED
I saw Crain live in Boston last summer, and I really liked them. The Heater cd doesn’t seem to live up to them live however. But that’s ok. Terry G. Lorber II

admiral. well i don’t know the music. but there were some ex-fuel members in there. admiral broke up and some or one of the members moved on to navio forge who broke up. Musically they sounded kindof like Fuel, but less like angry Sawhorse emo and more like mellow Fugazi emo. When their 7" came out, many folks called them a Fugazi clone, but I think that was mainly ’cause the "emo" sound wasn’t so well known back then.
actually ex- Admiral and ex-Fuel members were in the now ex, Navio Forge. Mike Harbin, ex-Admiral bass guy, has a new solo project turned full on group called Jack Potential with a 7" on Kim Jawbox’s DeSoto label. The 7" was Mike and "session musicians". (J. Robbins of Jawbox played on the 7") Now Jack Potential is a band with some ex- people from other bands. (Worlds Collide and Clutch ???). Mike played me a very rough demo of some new JP stuff, while bombing around DC in a car and it’s pretty loud and noisy. Mike Harbin can now be seen roadie-ing around the U.S. with Jawbox… — Shawn Scallen music director, CKCU-FM 93.1, Ottawa, Canada 613-234-PUNX 234-PUNX Sysop (gig listings recording) D.I.Y. concert promoter type guy

Anybody remember a guy named Matt Allen in an early, Pennsylvania incarnation of Admiral? This would be about four years ago, maybe more…

They have anew album out on Restless Records called _Heater_. They also appear on the October Working Holiday 7" with the records, a Compulsiv 7" COmp. with Derelict Hotel, JackoNuts, and Circus Lupus, a 3-song Compulsiv 7", and an album called _Speed_. Someone described their sound right between Chicago and D.C. (if you want to generalize). Pretty accurate if you want to make those generalizations. Check ‘em out. that quote was live from the show at gilman last week. my favorite would be "this songs about a girl who wrecked me" when they went into east bay invitational. i guess you kinda had to be there….does anyone have any live jawbreaker tapes where blake is incredibly bitter and sarcastic. i mean more than usual. i’d really like the gilman show in late january/early febuary. although i didn’t go, i heard he was in rare form….love, dace

) Secondly, the last time Fugazi played here LOCKJAW and Shudder openned. The time before that, Malhavoc. And the first time, The Trapt. I assume you confused Lockjaw with Crain. Crain are from Kentucky, probably ex-Squirrel Bait/Bastro as are all Louisville bands, right?
Crain have a new LP/CD on Restless which scares me seing how shitty the Restless experience was for the Doughboys. (BTW Seaweed signed to Restless, not Mercury as perviously reported.) Lockjaw are a really cool percussive, noisy, emo type ensemble who have a 7" out on their own Popsicle Records (the 7" dosen’t do the justice anymore). They were a quitting and their percussionist going back to sit-down drums. Look out for them on this summer. They rock!! and if you play drums, or other cool instruments, you can contact LJ thru me! shawn — Shawn Scallen music director, CKCU-FM 93.1, Ottawa, Canada 613-234-PUNX 234-PUNX Sysop (gig listings recording) D.I.Y. concert promoter type guy
