Hiya, I call myself a "writer."  I know the rules. I adhere to them where needed.  I don’t think it’s needed here (but I expect to be harrassed when I say something really bassackwards.) You will rarely see me take the time or effort to make sure my posts are grammatically correct.  I never use spellcheck in email or usenet. I don’t mind being corrected – gently or teasingly.  And I don’t mind learning. But no one here will hold you or anyone else to this "higher standard".   someone might tease you – especially when we know it’s a typo (like I have a habit of typing "teh" instead of "the" or "Judity" instead of "Judity" GRRRRR  "Judith." (see.) The things that can make reading a post difficult tend to be other habits that have little to do with spelling or grammar.  All Caps, lack of punctuation or too much punctuation, and so on. I use entirely too many parentheses. :) Take care, kcat

When I was still in school, a million years, ago I had an English teacher in high school that absolutely paralyzed me from writing letters and other social type things. I could write an essay until the cows came home but not a thank you letter. That teacher had be so scared of making some sort of faux pas that I just couldn’t do it. I certainly would not want that to happen to anyone here. But we do have a few people here who know their grammar and spelling better than probably 99% of the English speaking public. We could all learn. At least I could teach my spell checker some "big" words especially medical terms and other pharmaceuticals. Of course I have a husband that always tells me to stop using the word "that" – apparently I use it in the slang form all the time. Please do not take offense.
