I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Why do people fall for this? At least I can point to some data WRT the aloe stuff.

I saw a talkshow on German television (where else) where those candles were used in order to draw out ear wax from unsuspecting volunteers who claimed they had clean ears. It was pretty gross. Nina

Confession time. I tried ear candeling once.....only once! I was at my wits end with ear pain. And thought what the heck I did it myself, couldn't bear anyone looking at me. <g> Was very messy and contrary to what I was told, a little painful. My suggestion....don't waste your time, money......... and dignity. Dawn "NW" <ninb...@MJAUyahoo.se> wrote in message

ya know - for the most part I say - do what works for you. Though I always err on the side of caution with things that seem illogical to me. and I've seen that Wits End place - it's the pits. we will do strange and undignified things to get away from Wits End.

Apparently the Hopi have a traditional practice of making hollow herbed candles and inserting them into the ear then igniting. The theory is that this draws out bad thoughts, I believe. According to my newspaper, a recent survey of over 100 medics resulted in zero reports of bad-thought-relief, but 22 reports of patients with candle-wax burns to the aural canal or the eardrum. -- Andy [Chair, N E Lupus Group] See http://www.northeastlupus.org.uk for more!
