Question:
I have wondered a bit about this stuff myself… I ended up under the care of a (an?) urologist. It is a urologist (jurologist), isn’t it? And _an_ RD (ar-d)? I have figured I won’t get it right unless I pronounce it… I never thought about this until I was going to write ‘a RD’ and it didn’t sound right… I can’t remember being tought that it is the sound that counts…
As I understand it, it should be *a* urologist because it’s a "yu" sound not a "u" one. RD depends on whether you intend people to read it as RD (an ar-d) or as *a* rheumatologist. "Variam semper dant otia mentem" (Lucian, and entirely inapplicable to yours truly – I wish!…) Helen Smith and/or Purple People-Eater, St Hilda’s College, Oxford. "zzub, zzub. MIAAAAAAAAAOW. Crunch….munch."

Hi, My RD wants me to consider Cytoxan, too. He didn’t mention daily or IV, just that it was time to go to the next level of treatment. I have been on Imuran and MTX for quite awhile and lots of prednisone and we seem to be spinning our wheels. Any positive results from anyone? Actually, I would like to hear from anyone that has taken it. Thanks. Judi Burch – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I took cytoxin (150 mg) daily for several months this year – until Dec. 26th. I lost LOTS of hair, and the way the cytoxin is metabolized can damage the lining of the bladder. And did. I ended up under the care of a (an?) urologist. thought I had a bladder infection, initially. But the cytoxin had caused the lining of the bladder to slough off – then the bladder got really irritated – suffice to say I’m off cytoxin, and on something to stop the bladder spasms. Certainly not everyone will end up with this sort of reaction, or they’d never use it. And part of the problem is my fault, admittedly. Drink lots and lots and lots of water. My Dr. recommended 64 oz in the first couple of hours after taking it. And I didn’t. And paid dearly. Good luck. SharonH Has anyone had any experience with daily cytoxan treatments for Sjogrens and/or Lupus? Our only experience is monthly IV treatments. Docs are recommending daily cytoxan as next level of treatment.
– Today makes one wonder what tomorrow will bring.
