Question:
Hi – I finally got in to see a rheumy and his final diagnosis was that whatever was wrong with me it had nothing to do with lupus, or anything in the rheumy field. I’ve seen the posts on how long it took to get a dx so I was wondering if even a rheumy can be "fooled" or should I look for another reason for all these symptoms that sure seem like lupus to me? Thanks, Deanna

Hi Deanna, The fact that the rheumy does not think it is lupus is a good thing. I must qualify that statement though. Do you feel comfortable with what he is telling you? Did he do adequate tests and listen to you when you explain your symptoms? I must tell you that I had been to two rheumies who did not make a diagnois. It later became so glaringly obvious on my blood tests that there was then no doubt. It was then that suddenly the symptoms I had been having were typical of lupus. Some of them could not see it until after the fact. I am not saying that this is the case with you. Did the doctor give you any kind of diagnosis or explaination for what has been happening to you? It does often take several trips to the doctor before you do get a diagnosis. As for me……my lab work is negative one time, and positive the next. Sometimes it is negative and the sed rate is way high.Explain that? So I am what they call sero-negative. Fortunately, my Rheumie treats the symptoms, and I am thankful for that. Hope you will find some sort of medication to help you with your symptoms….then you’ll feel better. barbtoo
