About 25-40% (depends on type of population) of lupus patients never experiencing these two symptoms. Boaz http://www.acor.org/lupus/ http://www.zeta.org.au/~sioux/mira always consult your medical practitioner

Sorry to hear you are ill Firethorn. I had something very similar to what you are describing, but without the hair loss. I have been diagnosed with lupus for 15 years now. I would like to mention, that I went undiagnosed for 16 years before though. It was a living nightmare. At least after I was diagnosed correctly I knew what I was dealing with. Just thought I’d add my 2 cents here. Ok, first off, I found I was allergic to clorine, so when I would bathe I would make my rashes worse. I began to add soda to my bath water and did lots better. Also, for my rashes I have found that Solarcaine is the only thing that really works. There is also a green cream that I found at the health food store with hmmm…can’t remember the name of the herb. Anyway, Solarcain is the best anyway, the white liquid is the best, but I think they quit making it, it comes in a green gel now. Next, get some acidophilus and take it. This is my first post, so I guess I can say whatever I want here.
) Your headaches may very well go away in a few days on acidophilus. I get my vitamins and herbs and things from the Vitamin Shoppe. 1-800-223-1216 for the catalog, and no I don’t have anything to gain by telling that! There are several things I take. I usually just buy the Vitamin Shoppe brand. Uva ursi is an herb for the kidney and bladder. I have to take it occassionally depending on my health. I can tell when I am retaining fluid. It is not a cure all, but I can take 3 or 4 capsules twice a day for a few days and do very well, considering. I also take some tiny little green pills called "Calms". They are cammomille and are great if I get nervous or upset about something. When I get too upset I get sick, so these little calm pills really help me. They are $3-4 for 100, so you can’t beat that price with any pharmaceutical that I know of. Also, if my chest hurts, I take hawthorn berries, also an herb I get at Vitamin Shoppe. Well, guess I have told of my little "cures" that I have learned. There is more of course. I don’t eat lunchmeats like bologna because of the nitrates and nitrites. Sometimes I must eat some polish sausage because I like it, but I know I will have a little crying spell afterwards because of the MSG. Yes, I know it sounds weird, but pay attention to your body, and see what you can find out. I eat almost no sugar. I drink spring water with squeezed lemon or lime in it. No, I am not perfect in my diet, but I can certainly tell a difference when I abuse myself. Hope you feel better soon. If you are as sick as I was it will take some time to get better. Hello all!! I have had some SEVERE symptoms as of late, and am seeing a doctor later in the week regarding them. A friend mentioned LUPUS might be in the running. What do you guys think? Joint pain: Sharp pain in knees and hips, and general achyness (SP?)all over. Skin rash: Painfull raised rashy areas slightly larger than a quarter on body. One on face, small one on scalp. Oh did I mention hair loss? Skin discoloration: Patches of pigment gone, or become darker.all on right arm and torso. Slight fever for days at a time. Nose bleeds and bruising: I bruise easily, they are unusual looking, dark purple or black like there is a lot of blood just benath the skin. Constant nose bleeds, Headaches: CONSTANT headache. Asprin dosent touch it, gets worse the more tired I get. Cognative problems: I have complete lapses of what im doing. Get mentally worn out in short order. Poor memory. Sleep problems: Sleep pattern disruption, non refreshing sleep. Fatuge: No energy, and have to sleep by 3pm (I try to get up at 8am). Did I mention IM GRUMPY AS HELL? Let me know if any of these things ring a bell for any of you. :) I’m sure its covered in some other posts, but as im sure youll understand, im wiped at the moment and can barely see the screen :P Fireth…@sonic.net

Sounds like vitilligo, an autoimmune destruction of pigment cells in skin. All of your symptoms may fit into lupus, but also for some other immune manifestations. You need to see good rheumatologist and IMHO also to varify functions of adrenal cortex. Boaz http://www.acor.org/lupus/ http://www.zeta.org.au/~sioux/mira always consult your medical practitioner

Two of the most common symtoms for Lupus are not mentioned, sun sensitivity and the facial rash. The symptoms above could be due to many things other than lupus. Jim
