Send her to the Missouri Chapter of Lupus Foundation of American. The website is at www.mtio.com/mclfa They have detailed info about tests and their meaning, procedures, medications, and generally any information you could want. They also have quite a number of support forums including the Ask A Doc feature for those questions you forget to ask at your appointment or want another opinion on. Their links page will give you lots of other sites to try also. Hope this helps.

Perhaps a good place to start looking for information is at www.lupus.org It’s been rather quiet here at this newsgroup. Perhaps your mom could join us when she has access to your computer. Encourage her to ask questions. (No question is dumb. Others listening in might learn something, too.) Another excellent site is the Hamline University Lupus Pages… http://www.hamline.edu/lupus A.S.L is nice but doesn’t get enough traffic unfortunately. Though I think that is improving. An excellent support group is Hamline’s Lupus-L. From the hamline pages you can see how to get her subscribed to the mailing list. This means that you would have to receive email on her behalf.. .most emailers have the ability to set up separate mailboxes and personalities. It’s fairly simple to subscribe but if she needs any help she can certainly email me. Also, from the Lupus pages she can skim through the archives for a while before subscribing – she would then have a better idea of what the group is all about. It is an excellent and supportive group with about 50-100 posts per day. It is a mailing list so it is controlled to some extent. That means, no spam and no trolls. Just a ton of information and support. I know that if she has any questions (and with a new diag. I’m sure she does) that there are *bunch* of people that would happily answer them. We’re a pretty chatty bunch. We discuss everything from physical symptoms to the frustration of dealing with insensitive doctors to the methods our families and friends use to help us. Also… if she would just like to contact me and learn more about Lupus and the Mailing list, please tell her to feel free to do so. I know a considerable amount about the tests and what I don’t know I’m sure others on the Lupus-L list would be more than willing to help with. My mother was diognosed with Lupus the day before yesterday. It was her third test and all three were positive. She is 51 and seems relieved because she had veen told for several years that it was her nerves causin her problems, now she is just happy to know that she is not "insiane" as she put it. She recieved the results of the test back and the cell count numbers along with it. I do not have the numbers that she recieved but she would like to know if there is somewhere online where they tell of the test process and gives detailed information on the results and what it all means. She is not online but would like to know if there is any suport groups or chat lines that she could go to (using my computer) where she could talk to people directly. Thank you for reading this and for any help that you may be able to provide. Gadget……
