howdja manage that, hon?   >I have – as I suspect some of y’all do – a tendency to attribute any >physical problem to Lupus.  Sometimes it’s just a "normal" injury!

too true.  My daughter has fussed at me about that – and my hubby even tends to do it "well, another lupus thing."  - I think it helps me better cope with things in a way because I can just brush things off as lupus.  But it has its risks obviously.  I’m glad you were able to find out what was wrong and get it treated.  Hope it’s back to normal soon.   And whatever you did to cause it – don’t do that! :) hugs, *********************************** KCat – I am not a medical professional.  The contents of this post are based soley on my experiences and opinions http://www.ghg.net/schwerpt/mypage.htm http://www.ghg.net/schwerpt/aslfaq20.htm   ("`-”-/").___..–”"`-._   (`6_ 6  )   `-.  (     ).`-.__.’`)    (_Y_.)’  ._   )  `._ `. “-..-”   _..`–’_..-_/  /–’_.’ ,’ (()),-”  (()),’    (((.-’

I suspect the three-day shoot, and another weekend shoot four days,  afterwards was just too much. > >I have – as I suspect some of y’all do – a tendency to attribute any > >physical problem to Lupus.  Sometimes it’s just a "normal" injury! > too true.  My daughter has fussed at me about that – and my hubby even > tends to do it "well, another lupus thing."  - I think it helps me > better cope with things in a way because I can just brush things off > as lupus.  But it has its risks obviously.  I’m glad you were able to > find out what was wrong and get it treated.  Hope it’s back to normal > soon. > And whatever you did to cause it – don’t do that! :)

Thanks, I’ve been told by the BH that we’ll only do *one* shoot a month from now on, and I’m to sit out the next one. DIHL! Judith in SoCal

I don’t assume it always could be Lupus… I think it’s because docs seem so willing to blame everything that happens on the disease. It could always be other illnesses and/or side effects from medicines. Sometimes, I think, if you have Lupus — it’s just to easy to blame the disease….

Response:

I think that since lupus has such wide ranging effects, it can be very difficult to distinguish non-lupus related symptoms from lupus related ones. My daughter often gets flu like symptoms with lupus flares, for example.  It’s then pretty hard to tell the difference when she actually gets a virus.  Still, sometimes I’m not sure it matters.  No matter what else she gets, it all seems to stir up her lupus in some way anyway. Then one way or the other, it all becomes one mixed up mess until she gets over it and things calm down.   Sandra

What with a dear friend in the final stages of an illness, a family wedding next month, over-work, and a three-day shoot in the Arizona mountains, (Yes, I *know*!) I’ve been having a nasty flare. So, when my arm started swelling, I figured it was just another of the "joys" of Lupus and tried to ignore it.  Yesterday it looked as if someone had put half a grapefruit under the skin on my elbow.  My doc took one look and walked me down to the orthopedic surgeon. Fortunately, it was "just" a torn ligament, and a shot of Cortisone ensued. I have – as I suspect some of y’all do – a tendency to attribute any physical problem to Lupus.  Sometimes it’s just a "normal" injury! Judith in SoCal
