Question:
This week I have been having numbness in my lips. It is more a sensation that hits and passes quickly. Also head has been a little more dizzy. Also this is more a sensation than a constant feeling. It hits and passes quickly. Has anyone else experienced this. Thanks Cindy

Yes. Apparently Vit D deficiency (and/or other causes) can cause numbness around the mouth http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000376.htm There’s was also a discussion on this newsgorup http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&threadm=6rLJ4.4282… HTH J

Cindy, I too have had that lately. I mentioned it to rheumy and she kinda looked at me, then said something about neuropathy. I had a post just lately about numbness in my tongue of all places. Plus a severe pain on one side of my tongue that woke me up, then numbness. I never did figure that one out. I guess as long as it is not incapacitating no doc does any thing to find out why? If you do find something more, let me know. Then I too will "run" it by my doc LOL janers Ps. long time no posty. are you alright?
Response:
Yes, I am fine. Just been reading and listening. I have been working on my living room, painting and all. The painting was easy. But if you knew me well, you would know that painting would not be very productive for me to do as a full time job. First of all, my profits would be eat up in the cost of the paint. Second of all it takes me about three times as long to clean up then it does to paint. I still have it in my hair. But actually it turned out well. I bought this thing called a wooly, and did some color meshing. It kinda gives the wall a suede look. On the other hand, I did call my neursurgeon today and asked if I needed to come in for a check up. It has been three years since I had my Gamma Knife done to my brain tumor. I havent had it checked but once. I hope that he calls me back. This weird thing with the numbness is kind of freaking me. Well enough said. "Janers" <rojak…@bright.net> wrote in message

Hi Cindy, Good job on the painting. It sounds like you paint much like I do. I end up with the paint all over myself. Hubby can do it without even getting a drop on himself. I tell him he is a sick, sick man. That is just not normal. I get numbness around my mouth sometimes too. I don’t know what causes it, but the dermy did test me for scleroderma because of that. The result was negative. I also get dizzy at times. I have noticed some of that today. I think you are wise to check with the neurologist. Anything like that should be assessed. Perhaps you have been looking up a lot as you paint. I find that action will often set off a headache or make me dizzy. I had a closed head injury at one time. I think it is related. Let us know what the head man has to say. BJ-Sk. Canada "Cindy" <cmath…@cox.net> wrote in message

freaking me. </snip> Hi Cindy I have a pituitary adenoma and when it was bigger (right now it is tiny) I had some weird symptoms like numbness in different areas in my face and head (neck too). I am hoping it will stay small forever, am checked bi-annually now with CTscans and am minus some bad headaches which occured often. I hope you find your answers…. I read BJ’s response re being tested for sjogrens’ syndrome, and though I do have sjogrens, I don’t know that it is implicated in the numbness. Good luck! Thank you Cindy
I don’t think I researched that well enough. Do you take celebrex? Here’s why I’m asking, someone else with the same problem http://groups.google.com/groups?q=lips+%22numbness+%22&start=10&hl=en… The symptom also shows up on the ‘net as (possible) side effects from other meds. The official term seems to be "perioral paresthesia" This place seems to call it part of the aura of migraine. Do you notice any connection with migraines? http://www.icondata.com/health/pedbase/files/MIGRAINE.HTM http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003206.htm Drugs such as chemotherapeutic agents, chloroquine, D-penicillamine, ioniazid, nitrofurantoin, parenteral gold therapy and phenytoin Except in cases where the cause is obvious (for example, when a hand or foot "falls asleep" because of the position it is in), numbness and tingling should be discussed with your health care provider. <snip> So maybe you should talk to your doc about it? > Thank you for caring enough to help us.
