I don’t think it really has a huge effect unless you have kidney problems. Then one has to deal with the sugar increasing urine volume and the chocolate has a chemical similar to caffeine (and caffeine as well) that of course are mild diuretics. So if you’re not having kidney problems, than I don’t think you need to stay away from them particularly. However, that said… if you’re craving sweets you might be having problems that should be checked by your doc. Have you had a kidney function test done recently (urinalysis). Diabetes is not uncommon as an overlap disease with Lupus. Also, if you’re diet consists of other sugars that are not complex carbos then you can get into a cycle of craving more and more sugar. Have you tried monitoring your diet in terms of sugar intake? Maybe eat complex carbos (pasta, whole wheat breads) rather than simple sugars that break down easily (fruits, rice, other sweets). Make sure you’re getting sufficient protein in your diet (not necessarily too much though – all things in moderation of course). hope this helps… kc cat – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -k1013 wrote: > I just wanted to get some opinions.
