Question:
Arly, I agree that it is probably the antibiotic. I was once on IV antibiotic for a staph infection in my spine, and at one point my fingernails hurt. I could hardly do anything that might touch them. I thought it was ridiculous, until I sheepishly asked my Dr. about it. He said that antibiotics can cause nerve endings to flare and become over sensitive, or feel like a sunburn. Once you have finished the antibiotics, I bet the burning will go away. I hope so. — Nancy <snipped – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Other people suggested it might be the antibiotic. I figure that’s possible. Arly
Response:
Over the past 2 weeks, I’ve been having severe burning pain in my legs from mid thigh to my toes. Also, less severe pain in my hands and forearms. In my arms, it may only last for an hour or so at a time. In my legs, it has lasted for up to 8 hours. It’s not the regular burning pain like from nerve irritation. This pain feels like I’m on fire. It’s worse than a severe sunburn. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Do you think it’s related to my herniated disk? I was also bitten by a tick approximately one month ago and have been on the 6-week course of antibiotics prescribed for lyme disease. My test came back negative, but I was having symptoms, so the doctor put me on the antibiotics. Do you think the burning may have something to do with lyme? I’ve never heard of that as a symptom, but I’m all ears. Thanks for your input. Arly
Response:
Any other medical problem besides the disk? Not sure about the Sx of Lyme disease but have seen similar things with Lupus. Hope that isn’t the case.
I certainly hope not too! lol Other people suggested it might be the antibiotic. I figure that’s possible. Arly
