Looking at the positive side

Question:

Hi again to all, I wrote earlier to day about my birthday and was feeling really down about it but I wanted to share with you the words which broke the gloom I was feeling.  I was looking at the negative things the last year has brought… the intial diagnosis of both MS and Lupus, helping my 8 year old daughter go through hell after being sexually abused by her paternal grandfather along with being physically abused by her father, here recently I was told the MS is progressing faster than expected and not to look for any remission periods. My long term boyfriend-4 1/2 years together-told me to look at how these things have changed our life for the better.  My daughter is back to being the open fun loving child she was before.  This winter my boyfriend quit drinking and closed an unhappy chapter in our lives together.  As far as the medical issues it to has strengthened the family, all of us have read the literature on the disease and we sit down together and discuss when someone has something on their minds.  So looking at the last year from that angle it has been a wonderful year for personal growth and for strengthening the bonds that hold us together. Thanks to all for listening to me, I feel much better about life tonight. Love and Hugs to everyone, Laura

Response:

Hi Laura, I’m glad that you are feeling more up today. Sometimes it is really hard to look and see the positive things in our lives because all the negative things seem to affect us so much more. Just keep taking one day at a time and keep writing to us. That’s what this group is really good for – helping to encourage each other ! Chris
