Hi My wife was diagnosed with Discoid Lupus 15 years ago, and was told by an NHS Doctor that, it was untreatable apart from the use of Steroid Cream. After changing Doctors to a Millitary Doctor due to an unrelated incident, my wife was given a full medical and was told that although Discoid Lupus was uncureable there were plenty of treatments available to control it. She was presribed Plaquenil, which has helped her condition to improve dramatically. She was given a blood test as part of the medical and it was discovered that she may be suffering from the early onset of Liver Disease and/or Emphysema. She has since been called back to the Doctor for another blood test, and it seems that she may be AAT deficient. Does anyone know if there is a link between Discoid Lupus and AAT deficiency. My wife is 29 and is a heavy smoker, she has also been prescribed Prozac for depression, caused in some part due to the poor treatment by her NHS Doctor. Thank you for your help. Alex b…@dumbaz.com
